Painting Colour - an exhibition at Melton Library Art Gallery

PAINTING COLOUR - AN EXHIBITION AT MELTON LIBRARY ART GALLERY

Pure colour is the subject of April’s exhibition at
Leicestershire County Council’s Melton Library Art Gallery, which features the paintings of Leicester artist Karl Indans.

Karl aims to avoid all reference to nature in his work, and to focus entirely on colour and the process of painting.
Inspired by “colour field” artists such as Mark Rothko, Karl works with strong saturated colours, which are applied in broad strokes, and built up in layers on square canvases.

The results are vivid, bold splashes and sweeps of colour which attract the eyes and provide an exciting visual experience.

“I loved Karl’s work when I saw it on display in last year’s Hidden Treasures exhibition in Leicester,” said Ruth Pointer, local librarian and exhibition organiser, “and I think it will appeal to many of our visitors – so don’t miss it!”

Painting Colour is on display from Monday 4 until Friday 29 April at normal library opening times.
